Today, April 30, 2009: I have been unable to find a room with powerpoint capabilities for today's presentations. So, we will be meeting in our regular classroom. Please print off the power point presentations and be sure to email me a copy.

Monday April 6 Class

ENGL 1010 at 8am will not meet today. We will do peer reviews on Wednesday, so if your paper is done, sit back, relax and I'll see you on Wednesday. If you haven't finished your paper yet, you have another day to work on it. Please email me with any questions or problems!

Office Hours Change

I have had to change my office hours for the semester. My new office hours are as follows:

Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00-5:00
Wednesday and Friday from 11:30-12:30

Of course, you can always schedule an appointment if these times don't work for you.

Sorry for having to cancel class. I had a bit of an emergency late Thursday. I will explain on Monday.

Since we are missing class today, I will push everything back a day, so your papers will not be due for peer review until Wednesday, Feb. 11, and final drafts will be due on Friday.

Keep working on your papers (the extra time should make them extra good!), and email me with questions or problems.

Tuesday Thrusday Class Paper Due Dates

The paper 1 assignment sheet has the incorrect due dates for our Tuesday Thursday class. The Correct Due dates are as follows:

Papers due on 2/12 for Peer review (papers not present at peer review will lose a letter grade).

Final drafts for grading are to be turned in to me on 2/17.

I want to let you know that if you need a copy of the Course Schedule (assignments and readings) they are posted to the right. Be sure to get the correct one: MWF= for my Monday, Wednesday, Friday classes, and TR=for my Tuesday, Thursday class.

Welcome to Freshman Composition!

Hello and welcome to ENGL 1010, Freshman Composition.

The beginning of the semester is always an exciting (if not a bit crazy) time of the year. Students are rushing around trying to figure out where each classroom is, what books they need from the bookstore, and whether or not the new professor is going to be hard! We instructors are very busy also planning lessons, writing rubrics, and trying to learn everyone’s name. But, after a few weeks, everything settles down as everyone gets comfortable with the new schedules.

In my classes, we jump right into learning. From day one we begin learning about language and how it works. Since this is foundational to everything else we will be doing this semester it is very important that you come to class every time we meet.

I have designed this website to assist you with this class this semester. To the right are links to all the important handouts and assignments we will be working on this semester. As we proceed through the semester I will upload additional materials and handouts. It is important to check this site often for updates and information.

I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone! Let’s have a great semester!
